About
How oWeather builds its South African forecasts: data sources, update frequency, coverage and how we calculate conditions.
oWeather is a South African weather service built around a simple rule: never show a number we cannot stand behind. Forecasts come from the Open-Meteo model ensemble, tides from Open-Meteo Marine sea-level data, and historical comparisons from the Open-Meteo archive.
Coverage spans every province, more than 790 South African cities and towns, named surf and coastal spots with swell and water temperature, tide tables for the major coastal centres, and around 75 curated international cities.
Conditions update hourly. When a data source fails, the affected page says so and offers a retry instead of falling back to invented values.
